Flying high with AI
By leveraging accurate product catalogs and real-time supply chain insights, Sage Parts ensures that customers receive the right parts and services promptly, thereby minimizing downtime and optimizing operational performance.
Customer experience: What does it mean to you and how would you sketch a blueprint for its execution? To a company that supplies parts, accessories and components to major airlines, aircraft manufacturers and other stakeholders in the aviation continuum, it means providing just the right product that meets the technical requirements, at the right time. Easier said, huh! Okay, how exactly would you go about executing that plan? By building an attribute-rich product catalog, powering a best-in-class eCommerce platform and consolidating the supply chain with optimal feed rates and weather forecasting capabilities is how Sage Parts used AI to set-up a robust, digital infrastructure, sustain organizational development and supercharge customer experience.
Buckle up for a journey into the future of aviation as Giuseppe Cinnani, Chief Commercial Officer, Sage Parts pilots us through the use of AI in aviation parts manufacturing and supplying processes. Excerpts from the spotlight session "Flying High with AI'' at REBUILD ’24 Istanbul.
Innovation in Aviation Ground Operations
Beyond airplanes and ATC’s, ground operations in airports abound with a lot of high-tech machinery that enable multiple, essential operations. Baggage and cargo handling, air conditioning, catering and rest room maintenance… These are but a few of the myriad repetitive processes that are ripe for innovation with technology, generating greater business efficiencies. Imagine the savings in fuel and emissions by using an autonomous bot for taxiing the airplane! Sage Parts’ innovation here is significant — the equivalent of 12 automobiles’ annual footprint on the environment per taxiing — particularly when we realize that irrespective of whether it’s in the air or on the ground, an airplane needs the same amount of fuel to move around. And that, there’s still no technology to fly an airplane without an internal combustion engine.
Adoption of autonomous vehicles and advanced automation technologies helps enterprises enhance operational efficiency and improve safety and reliability in highly complex environments like the airport, support the seamless flow of passengers and cargo, and ensure that airlines and airports operate on schedule with minimal disruption.
Customer-Centric Approach
Transitioning from a traditional product-centric approach to a customer-centric strategy, Sage Parts focuses on enhancing customer experience through sophisticated data management, robust e-commerce platforms, and predictive analytics. Vue.ai helped Sage Parts leverage its extensive experience and vast amounts of data to create a more accurate and comprehensive product catalog. The initiative involved organizing previously siloed data from various sources, including supplier catalogs, equipment specifications, operational data from airports, scraping OEM catalogs, enriching data with external sources and using AI to predict cross-references and add technical attributes. By following a five-stage process, Sage Parts created a robust database that serves as the foundation for their enhanced e-commerce platform, a structured and attribute-rich database, resulting in a highly accurate and comprehensive catalog that significantly improves the customer experience.
By leveraging accurate product catalogs and real-time supply chain insights, Sage Parts ensures that customers receive the right parts and services promptly, thereby minimizing downtime and optimizing operational performance.
