Open-Time Email Product Recommendations

Also known as Real-time product recommendations, refers to personalized email recommendations that are made when the visitor opens the email. In other words, the recommendations in the email are not predetermined and are not made at email send time, but rather are personalized and optimal for the point in time when the email is opened and read.

Open-time email product recommendations are made and rendered upon the opening of the email by each individual recipient. In other words, the product recommendations in an email are not created and sent out in real-time, rather personalized and made optimal for the point in time when the email is opened and read. This can be used to remove products mentions that are no longer available, update content based on current trends and forecasts of customer behavior, or highlight a new offer when an old one has ended. This dynamic personalization results in higher open rates, click-through rates and reduces the number of lost subscriptions and bounce rates.

Open-time email gives any user the tools to set up targeting rules for personalized email experiences. A few benefits of open-time email personalization include the ability to:

  1. Integrate any email template
  2. Target customers with real-time content
  3. Personalize content based on website behavior
  4. Utilize ESP that the brand currently uses

Once the appropriate email experience rules have been established, the Open time email product recommendation software will generate a snippet of code designed for your specified ESP that you can place in the email source code. When the recipient opens an email, a call is made to a personalization engine, and the necessary information is then gathered to decide which content can be displayed, based on the audience preferences, targeting criteria and other segmentations, unique to the individual brand.

Once the appropriate content is determined and narrowed down, the engine sends back the email with the selected content and the result is that the recipient sees a dynamically generated email, with either dynamic images or default content personalized at open-time.
